A little podcast update!

If you haven’t heard yet, back in January Alicia and I started the Stand Unshaken podcast! It’s something we both had wanted to do for a while, and we felt like the Lord was telling us it was finally time to bring that dream to life. It’s been a few months now, and we’ve had a blast getting to connect more with the Stand Unshaken community through the podcast!

Here are a few of the things we’ve learned since starting the podcast, as well as a list of our most listened to episodes!

When Alicia and I were originally talking about our intention for the podcast, our biggest priority was that it would feel casual and real, more than scripted and professional. We talked about other podcasts that we love and saw that they had a laid-back, conversational vibe that let you feel like you were just listening in on a real conversation between two people. We knew that this was the vibe we wanted to go for, and so far we’ve been loving it.

Having a more casual approach allows us to show up in a way that feels authentic and lets people see behind the scenes of our lives and what we’re learning. It’s been a great way for us to share about the lessons we’ve learned through our own experiences while also showing up as people who are still a work in progress. It’s been such a fun way to connect with others and we are getting more and more comfortable with each episode.

So far we have only done interview-style podcasts with Denika’s husband and two of our friends, and both of these episodes were a good learning curve because it taught us how to balance the different conversational dynamics (and tech issues) of doing a podcast with more people. We eventually want to make interviews a more consistent thing on the podcast, and we have some fun ones planned for our upcoming episodes so stay tuned for those!

If there’s one thing we’ve learned from starting the podcast, it’s that when you show up authentically and with a desire to share and help others, people will respond well to that! We’ve received such incredible feedback on the podcast so far, and it genuinely feels like we are having an ongoing conversation with our listeners. We love when people give us ideas for new episodes or share what stood out to them in a past episode. Eventually we hope to find even more ways to engage with the podcast listeners, but for now we are so thankful for all of the support we’ve been shown.

If you’ve not yet listened to the podcast and aren’t sure where to start, here are our current top 5 most popular episodes:
